We all agree that saving a marriage and stopping a divorce is not easy. Nevertheless, it is definitely easier to prevent than you might think. As long as you follow certain behaviors, having a happy marriage is possible. But nothing worth having comes easy. The harder you work, the bigger your reward.

• Be kind- Kindness is more important than honesty. It says in the Bible that “A kind word turns away wrath.” That’s true. You shouldn’t lie about serious stuff because sooner or later will come back to you. But tell little white lies when doing so avoids trouble.
• Play hard to get- It works for dating people, and it will work for married people. When I go to night clubs alone, I don’t get as much attention as when I bring a date because people always want what they can’t have. Make it harder for your spouse to have you when you want her to crave you.
• Agree- It’s simple: Always try to agree and you’ll have fewer problems because when you agree their defenses decrease. I understand that sometimes it’s hard to agree, just remember - you’ll get what you want. When possible either agree, or make a neutral statement that won’t sound like an attack on your partner’s position.
• Replace criticism with positive feedback, compliments- Criticism simply does not work. It won’t change your spouse. So why do it? When someone criticizes, he only pushes his spouse closer to a possible affair with another person. Start complimenting and your marriage will start getting better right away.
• Discontinue nagging- Your relationship will greatly improve. A new peace settles on the household and the relationship when you remove the annoyance, the angst and the agony of nagging. The chance of your relationship regenerating will increase and may deviate from divorce.
