I'm new in town, is Online Dating right for me?

Firstly, let's define the word 'NEWBIE' in reference to what this article is about. A newbie is slang for a person that is new to an area or a transplant from another region or country. In my opinion, there is no set time when a person is no longer a newbie; heck, I have known people that have moved to another area for years and still do not know anywhere or anyone past their street. So what are the ways for newbies to finally break their shell and socialize or seek romance in that 'strange' new place? Well thanks to the advent of the Internet, one great way is to search for persons within your area with similar interests and likes via the Web.

Online dating or social networking sites are plentiful over the Internet, each with its own flare or niche to help members achieve love or at least 'like' with another. Here's the thing though, one must be truthful when creating a profile for others to see; especially if it is a niche that focuses on persons within your area.

Why waste your time if you truly want to put yourself out there, yet be dishonest and vague with your profile? Truthfully speak about your interests, how you spend your time day to day; this would attract the type of people you would want; that way, no one's time is wasted. Another important thing is to upload your pictures to the site; show other singles what you are working with and again be honest, you do not want a situation where you receive interest based on a false image of yourself. I know some people may be intimidated or feel insecure by uploading a true picture of themselves, but what would be the point of even joining then; besides, I truly believe that there is someone out there for everyone; so no fear, go strong and most importantly have fun! What makes online dating also great is that you are basically socializing in the comfort and serenity of your home; no prying eyes to see if you act clumsy or spill a drink on your date. You have an opportunity to develop a rapport with other members and then set a date to meet WHEN YOU ARE READY! Cannot be simpler than that now can it?

One great thing about sites like NewbieConnect.com is that it gives new people in an area the opportunity to meet other local singles and explore these new surroundings together (if there ever was a great excuse to take someone out, nothing can top exploring the new surroundings together line). What if the date does not work out? Do not be discouraged, Rome was not built in a day and falling madly in love on the first day only happens in the movies (bad ones at that). If the date does not work out but ended amicably, at least you made a new friend or at least an acquaintance just by spending some time on the Internet. How does the old saying goes: 'If at first you do not succeed, try and try again'... hey, why not, especially if the online dating is free.

Once you follow the rule of honesty within yourself and to others within your online profile, you would only attract the right people that you have targeted to. Meet, socialize or date as many local singles in your area that you have met online and have fun on your journey.. you only live once, have fun with it.
